Antiaircraft Magazine
Fort McGilvray, HD Seward
Home  |  Seward

A group of small caliber antiaircraft weapons was authorized to be installed on a hilltop to the north of Battery Const. #293 at Caines Head. The emplacement would have included two 37-mm AA guns, four 50 caliber machine guns and one 500 square foot concrete magazine. By 1944 the magazine had been completed, although the guns were never emplaced. Magazines of similar design include the Caines Head war reserve magazines and the Rugged Island antiaircraft magazine.
