HDOP 1
Ugadaga Head, HD Dutch Harbor
Home  |  Dutch Harbor

Harbor Defense Observation Post, or HDOP, number 1 is located about 200 feet above Beaver Inlet on the top of Ugadaga Head. The station consists of two rooms, an observation room in front and a general purpose room behind. Access to the station was by a wooden ladder in the rear room.

Considering that the upper half of the structure is of wooden construction and has been underground for more than 60 years, the station is in remarkable shape, although some water damage is apparent.

Also located at Ugadaga Head are Searchlights #1 and #2 and some old Army housing.

The HDOP is under the mound at the top. In the foreground is the tramway.
