The Coast Artillery installed the first base end and spotting station, B 1/3 S 1/3, for Battery Tactical #3 at Gibson Cove, just south of the city of Kodiak. The station was a single room concrete structure, with a rear wingwall-type entrance.
A road widening project in the late 1990s left the station on the very edge of a road cut, where it is easily seen from the parking area below. |
