The military installed a large concrete magazine structure at Fort Abercrombie to support Battery Const. #404. If enemy action interrupted resupply from the mainland, the Battle Allowance (also know as War Reserve) ammunition stored here provided a reserve in addition to that housed in the battery itself.
The magazine is now used by the park service, but appears similar in design to the Castle Bluff Magazine which is open. |
