Fort Worden, HD Puget Sound | |
Battery Stoddard was transferred to the Coast Artillery in 1907 after four years of construction. It was designed to house four 6-inch disappearing rifles in two groups of two, each pair sharing a common powder room and shell room. Some time prior to 1921 all four guns were removed and never replaced.
Today most of Battery Stoddard's rooms are used for storage by the Park Service, and only the north powder room and powder passage are open to the public. |
