155-mm Battery
Fort Schwatka, HD Dutch Harbor
Home  |  Dutch Harbor

Sometime prior to 1943 the Army installed a battery of four 155-mm guns on Panama mounts at Fort Schwatka, high atop Ulakta Head. Little documentation is available on this battery since it was eliminated from the harbor defenses before completion of the Harbor Defense Project. The #1 and #2 emplacements were buried during construction of Battery Const. #402, although the #1 emplacement has since been uncovered.
